Brew York x Abbeydale Brewery - Blood Moon

When the moon turns red, something extraordinary is brewing! Blood Moon is a bold and beautifully distinctive 5.5% Red IPA created in collaboration between Brew York and Sheffield's Abbeydale Brewery, taking inspiration from Abbeydale's legendary Moonshine pale ale. This striking creation gives the much-loved original a darker, maltier twist, combining rich caramel sweetness and toasted malt with layers of vibrant citrus and resinous hop character. Named after the spectacular lunar phenomenon that bathes the moon in an eerie red glow, Blood Moon celebrates the best of both breweries, bringing together Abbeydale's heritage of beautifully balanced, hop-forward beers and Brew York's adventurous approach to modern brewing. Expect an enticing interplay of toasted biscuit, caramelised malt, refreshing citrus and aromatic pine, creating a wonderfully satisfying beer that bridges the gap between traditional and contemporary IPA styles.

Pouring a striking deep-red colour, Blood Moon delivers a deliciously complex drinking experience that places malt richness and expressive hops on equal footing. On the palate, expect generous impressions of sweet caramel, toasted bread and gently roasted malt, complemented by bright citrus zest and a distinctive resinous hop bitterness. Unlike the softer, fruit-saturated character of a New England IPA, this Red IPA embraces a firmer bitterness, allowing its lively hop profile to cut beautifully through the richer malt flavours. The result is a wonderfully balanced beer with plenty of depth, a satisfying body and a lingering finish that combines caramel sweetness with refreshing, pine-like bitterness. At an approachable 5.5% ABV, Blood Moon is an excellent choice for drinkers who appreciate a little more malt complexity in their IPAs. Darker, deeper and ready to shine when the sun goes down!
