Electric Bear's first step into barrel-ageing and the relationship between wood and beer. For this imperial stout they've taken a coffee and cocoa base beer and split it between port and bourbon barrels to see what both fortified wine and spirit can bring to beer.
The bourbon barrel brings vanilla and sticky sewed fruits with a smoother, more mellowed body than its counterpart. The bourbon sweetness lends balance to the coffee that resides within this enticingly dark beer and tempers the rich cocoa. Think Tennessee Mud Shake in beer form.
